In addition to developments and subdivisions which may have their own building criteria, the county requires and issues additional permits. For homes being built in Cashiers, these permits are procured from the Jackson County Building Inspections Department which includes Permitting and Code Enforcement.
Jackson County enforces the building regulations outlined in the most current versions of the NC Building Codes and National Electric Code (NEC). North Carolina General Statute requires the issuance of a building permit prior to construction, alteration, or repair of any building or building system. - Spouse / roommate information
